Want to know more about a relationship with God?

The great writer A.W. Tozer wrote “what comes into your mind when you think about God is the most important thing about us”. (The Knowledge of the Holy, AW Tozer)

What do you think about that?  Whether you believe in God or not, your thought about Him is the most important thing about you.  Belief in God is not about a religion, it is about a relationship.  You can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ!  How do we know this?  The Bible tells us this.  You may say, “well, I don’t believe in the Bible or I’m just not sure if it’s true.  Many intelligent people throughout history have tried to disprove the Bible and have failed.  (But go ahead and try if you still don’t trust it’s truth).

It is natural to have doubts about God and the Bible.  It’s okay.  We are only human.  I’m glad we don’t have a God that we can fully understand or comprehend.  What kind of god would that be?  We can know God but yet not fully comprehend Him or His ways.

So, how do we get this relationship with God?  What is it all about?  Doing good things?  Going to church?  Reading the Bible?  What about all of the bad things we have done in our lives?  Here’s the deal:
God loves you and has a purpose and plan for your life.

God has a high standard for our lives because He is perfect.  All humanity, yes, all humans fall short and don’t measure up to God’s standard.  (Romans 3:23)

As a result of us not measuring up to God’s standard, we face the punishment of spiritual death which is being separated from Him forever.  It’s called sin, that is what separates us from God.  He cannot be in the presence of sin.

So, we have to be cast out of His presence as a result of our sin.   That is our eternal punishment.  (Wow, that seems harsh doesn’t it?  Well, hang on, we ain’t done)…(Romans 6:23)

God loves us while we are still messed up.  We don’t have to clean up our life first for Him to love us.  In fact, He shows us His love by sending His son Jesus Christ to die in our place.  That’s right.  Jesus was sent to take our punishment.  He is our savior.  (Romans 5:8)

If you believe in your heart and say that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead so that we may live, then you can be saved from your sin.  It is a crazy thing, I know.  He was the perfect sacrifice for us, the imperfect.  Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus, will be saved.  Anyone.  (Romans 10: 9-10, 13)

We don’t have to do a bunch of stuff to earn God’s favor.  It is a gift.  It’s called grace.  It’s unmerited favor.  We haven’t done anything to deserve it.  He just loves us and desires us to be with Him and enjoy eternity with Him.  Yes, eternity.

If you believe in the Lord Jesus and call Him Lord of your life, you will spend eternity in Paradise with Him.  Heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9

It is not a coincidence that you are reading this.  It is the Lord knocking on the door of your heart.  Will you let Him in? He wants to have a relationship with you.  That is how God works.
